I am very shocked to hear this news and am deeply saddened by it. I had worked with Madison on a few projects at work when we were both down in Hawthorne together. He was always very cheerful and incredibly organized and on the ball with projects. I never got super close to him but could tell he was incredibly sharp and a deeply caring person. I would sometimes run into him at the climbing gym and do a few routes as well.
I too transferred up to the Seattle SpaceX office within the last year and was looking forward to reconnecting with Maddy.
My condolences to his family and all others who knew and cared for him.
Hi Hanna and Jordana,
I appreciate your invitation to spend time with you and hear/tell stories. This sounds like it will be a very special event for you all. While I won't be able to make it down to Lompoc for the launch on the 17th, you, your family, and Maddy will be in my thoughts as I watch the launch that day. I'm happy you all will be together and can honor Maddy with his dedication.
Ad Astra,
Nathan
Hi Nathan, just to add some updates to what Hanna shared, the launch has now been moved to 10/17, and we will be there, welcoming family and friends. If you happen to be in CA, please join us. We'd love to have you.
Dear Nathan,
Thank you for your words. I (and we) would love to hear more about the projects you worked on together and/or how you got to understand his character. Despite not getting very close, it's lovely you got to see some of his caring and wit, though I'm not surprised. Maddy was really genuine. As you probably know, on Oct 12th (although technically this still could be pushed back), SpaceX is launching the rocket which has Maddy's engraved dedication inside. My family and I, some extended family, and many of Maddy's friends (and colleagues) are all going to watch it launch at Lompoc. We will be in Lompoc for five days, and will be inviting the people to our house for food, story-telling, etc. I wanted to invite you and let you know you're very welcome too, if you have the time and means.
Either way, thank you for your words, and if there are any specific memories big or small that you would like to share, we would love to hear them.
Sending love from Berlin,
Hanna (one of Maddy's big sisters)
