I grew up with Hanna in Albany and knew Maddy as her energetic, hilarious, and rambunctious little brother. Every single time I slept over he would do something ridiculous to make us keel over in laughter, often at his own expense.
After the family moved to Colorado I remember visiting them and Maddy proudly showing me around their new house, especially the basement/game room that housed an ailing goldfish. One day he, Hanna, and I got popsicles and went on a walk around the neighborhood. It was a warm day and seemingly out of nowhere it began to rain. I remember his shrieking delight at my California confusion that rain could occur in warm weather as he laughed and danced around with his popsicle. I particularly remember watching terrifying Goosebumps movies that left Hanna, Shayna, and myself glued to our seats with intractable fear that he was somehow unaffected by.
I’m so sorry for your loss. I’ve always remembered his joyful energy, bright laugh, and intense love for his sisters. My family (Nancy, Phil and Zach) all have fond memories of Maddy as well and send their love to Jordana, Oliver and all who were close to him.
Love,
Roxie
Dear Roxie,
Thank you so much again for sharing. These memories are so sweet and vivid, and not ones that I remembered! Although of course I remember the trip as well :) I think we have a picture or two of that trip somewhere (I went through an unearthly amount of photos recently). That wild Colorado weather was SO fun for us California babies when we first moved there.... and still is.
If you ever remember and want to share any additional stories, pictures etc, I (and I know many other people) would absolutely love to see/hear them all. And they will be cherished forever.
Sending big love from Berlin,
Hanna
