I had a dream about Maddy last night. We were in his backyard, he was cleaning a table and for some reason I was cleaning a bucket we had used to cook dinner (don't ask me, it's a dream). I put the bucket down in front of him, thinking it's his house, he should probably clean the bucket right? He arched one eyebrow at me, and said "the mark of a man is how he does the little things." Chastised, I cleaned freaking bucket before we retired to his newly dream redecorated home and watched fantasia on a wall sized projector (again, don't ask me, it's a dream). Oddly enough, upon waking up I realized that, while I can't remember him ever saying that specific thing to me in life, it's something he absolutely would have said in such a situation.
I wish a thousand wishes that I could see Maddy somewhere besides memories, pictures, and dreams, but I am glad I still get to see him every now and then.
What an incredible dream! Jordana and I completely agree that IS something he absolutely would have said. In fact, I'm pretty sure you guys did cook dinner or something out back. I'm convinced there were a number of unorthodox activities in the backyard that we remain ignorant of to this day and dinner in a bucket sounds reasonable. And, I'm sure you guys watched fantasia multiple times. Was it the dancing elephants or Mickey and the multiplying brooms?
And, couldn't agree more with your sentiment about how we wish we see him in more than pictures, memories, and dreams. It's not enough, but I'd love to share some of those memories with you. I have a feeling there are quite a few I don't know and visa versa.
So glad you share this.
With love, Oliver (and Jordana)
